Syncing Team DataUpdated 4 days ago
Summary: How to ensure the Data moves from the Core to the Cloud.
Data is stored locally on the Core during the session. It only moves to the HELIOS Cloud (where everyone will have access to data on their App or in the Coaching Suite) once it is synced.
HELIOS needs both Bluetooth and WiFi/ Cellular signal in order to sync data from the Cores to the cloud. Once a session is stopped, HELIOS will begin to sync data if there is connectivity.
On average, with strong connectivity, a team of 15 can take up to 7 minutes to sync. Coaches can ensure faster syncing by instructing players to return their Cores to the case, having the case plugged in, and keeping the device within proximity to the Cores.
No Connectivity? No Problem
If you are playing in a rink where there is very bad connectivity or no connectivity, it is okay. The HELIOS Core will store the data on the device until the coach syncs the devices.
NOTE: The Core stores up to 3 sessions before data is overwritten. Sync all PENDING SESSIONS as soon as possible to avoid losing valuable data.
No Connectivity: If you are in a rink with NO SIGNAL or WIFI, the HELIOS will immediately default to a blank view with 200 minute long session and zero participation. There will be a large button in the activity that says PENDING SESSION.
Bring the case to an area with power and signal. Plug the case in, open your phone to the session, and tap PENDING SESSION. This will kick off the sync process.
NOTE: Only the device that ran the session will be able to sync data. No one will see data until the sync process is complete.
Incomplete Syncing: For those sessions where syncing didn’t complete - whether due to poor signal, Cores not present or asleep, or general timing - you can always sync data after.
Players who did not sync will have a SYNC button next to their name in the Activity list.
Simply tap SYNC once you are back in connection and the case is plugged in. HELIOS will automatically sync all pending session data.
On the web dashboard (app.helioshockey.com), any session with Missing or Pending Data will have an Orange Cloud Icon. Always try to limit the number of sessions with Pending data.
NOTE: In order to make confident decisions from HELIOS data, whether load management or performance evaluation, you need consistent data flowing into baseline models. Ensure you are constantly syncing data so you can use HELIOS to its fullest potential. Also, players and parents are more likely to engage with the platform when data is readily available.
PRO TIP: Assigning the HELIOS Operator Role
We recommend assigning one coach or Team Manager to the task of operating HELIOS. A dedicated person is more likely to be consistent when they own the process.
