How-To: Set a Puck Drop TagUpdated 9 hours ago

HELIOS can cut shifts from any video source. However, some video formats do not have the necessary timestamp information for HELIOS to cut shift video. For these video sources, you need to set a Puck Drop Tag in order to generate Instant Shift Highlights. The Puck Drop Tag signals a timestamp for when the game has started. HELIOS uses this timestamp to align skating and cut shifts from any video format.

Puck Drop Tags must be set in real-time during the game. You cannot set a Puck Drop Tag after the game has concluded. The only sources that do not require a Puck Drop Tag are: LiveBarn, iPhone/iPad, Android and Veo.

Shift video alignment is contingent on the Puck Drop Tag and video aligning through this process. If a coach misses the exact puck drop and sets the Puck Drop Tag, for example, 15 seconds after the ref dropped the puck, you can still get accurate shifts. When Aligning Session Video, simply drag the video slider to the exact moment when the Puck Drop Tag was set. In the above example, that would be 15 seconds after the official puck drop. HELIOS will properly cut shifts without any discrepancies.

During the Game - Follow the instructions below to Set a Puck Drop Tag.

  1. Start the Game Session. Note: This can be done during warmups or prior to the actual game starting.

  2. While the Game Session is running inside the HELIOS App - select the TAGGING tab.

  3. At the moment the puck is dropped to start the 1st, 2nd or 3rd period, press the corresponding button to live tag the puck drop event.

Note: If you are running single Game Sessions and have one continuous video file for the entire game, you only need to set a Puck Drop Tag for the first period. If you have separate video files for each period, you will need to Set a Puck Drop Tag for each period. If you are running Multi-Period Game Sessions, you will need to set a Puck Drop Tag for each period.
