Common Team FAQsUpdated 2 days ago

Below are some common questions that coaches ask about the HELIOS Team Platform:

  1. Can I share HELIOS Cores between different players on my team?

No. HELIOS Cores can only be paired to one Player profile at a time. It cannot be shared between multiple players. When a player pairs a Core to their profile and start collecting data, that data is fed into baseline performance models that then allow HELIOS to provide progress tracking and baseline performance trends. If you put the same Core on multiple players, all of the baseline will be inaccurate and the benefits of using HELIOS will be gone.

  2. Can I use the HELIOS Team platform for two different teams?

No. The HELIOS Team platform is designed to be used for a single team. It cannot be shared amongst multiple teams, largely due to how the HELIOS Core sensor works with individual players.

  3. Is there a Monthly option for Teams?

There is no Monthly option for Teams. The HELIOS Team platform is an Annual or 36 month Membership.

  4. Will Parents have access to the other Players' information, such as ice time information?

Parents only have access to their own child’s information and session details. Coaches who have access to the HELIOS Coaching Suite are the only ones who have access to all of the player data on the team. Parents and players will have access to some social/ gamified elements in the HELIOS app such as points, rankings and highlight videos, but they will not be able to see specific information around ice time, effort, or any unique session information.

  5. What happens if the Core breaks, is Lost, or is Damaged?

The HELIOS Core sensor is durable and should last between 2 and 3 years without any major damage. If, after discussing/troubleshooting with HELIOS support, we determine that the Core needs to be replaced, we will send out a replacement at no cost.

If the Core is lost, damaged, or broken due to negligence, there is a $100 replacement fee. This includes broken side panels due to the over tightening of the velcro strap during the mounting process. The HELIOS Core sensor needs to be snug, but does not need to be pulled so tight that it breaks the attachment walls.

  6. Is Active Time higher than official Time On Ice?

Yes, Active Time will be higher than your typical ice time that factors in stoppages in play. HELIOS determines ice time by observing skating motion. We do not have the ability to connect with the game clock to know when the play has stopped. When there is an icing, a goal, an injury, or warmups, HELIOS will still collect Active Time if the player continues skating around. Across the whole roster for a game, there will be relative accuracy in Active Time.

  7. What if a player on my team already has HELIOS?

If a player on your team already has their own HELIOS Membership with sufficient time remaining on their membership, we can add them to the roster during the Onboarding process. They can continue using their existing Core and Membership without losing any of their data.

If the Player is on a Monthly Membership, we can include them in the Team quote so they can benefit from the lower annual pricing of the Team platform. They can continue using their same Core and not lose any data.

  8. What happens at the end of the year when Players leave the team?

Most teams, whether youth or elite, experience roster turnover at the end of the year (or during the season with trades, etc). HELIOS has built in tools in the Coaching Suite that enables Coaches to add or remove new players and unpair old Cores for new players. There are two ways that HELIOS handles roster turnover:

    1. Keep & ReplaceAt the end of the year, if there are some players who will not return, then the Team can let those players keep their HELIOS Cores. They will be removed from the Team roster and will need to pay for their own individual membership to continue using HELIOS. We will send replacement Cores for the new players during the renewal process for the upcoming year. This is often done at the youth level, where parents are ultimately paying for the HELIOS membership + Core in their dues.

    2. Wipe & RepurposeIf the Coaches decide the hardware belongs to the team, then they can simply remove old players and unpair the HELIOS Core from that player. This will free the Core to be used by a new player. This often happens in the Academy/ School model, where HELIOS is paid for by the organization.

  9. I’m a Skating/ Skills Coach or Video Coach, do I need the HELIOS Team platform to introduce HELIOS to my clients?

HELIOS has an Affiliate program specifically designed for skills/ skating/ video coaches. If accepted, this program allows you to have remote coaching access to your players and earn the ability to sell HELIOS as part of your business.

The HELIOS Application can be reached here: APPLY NOW

  10. What comes with the HELIOS Team account?

The HELIOS Team account includes annual (or 3-year) PRO Memberships per player, Coaching Suite memberships for up to 4 coaches per team, and the HELIOS Team Charging Case. All three are mandatory requirements for the Team platform to operate properly.
